We all know that for proper function of our body we need vitamins and minerals. These vitamins and minerals are present in our food we intake. So, I'm writing a series on benefits of all vitamins required by our body. so do subscribe to my blog!
So, lets start in alphabetic order. It is turn of VITAMIN 'A'!!
WHAT IS VITAMIN 'A' ?
Vitamin 'A' is a fat soluble vitamin that means it is stored in our body and does not come out from our body through waste product. it is stored in body . This is the main reason why vitamin 'A' is found mostly in animal origin.So, what is animal origin here? animal origin are animal product like egg, milk,butter, fish liver oil, present in form of retinol and in vegetables in the form of carotene.
BENEFITS OF VITAMIN 'A'
Well there are many benefits of vitamin 'A'. Lets count the important benefits one by one.
1. IMPROVES VISION
First thing first, we know our eyes are very precious organ of our body. Through our eyes we can see this wonderful world and what is most amazing you do with your eyes you know? With your pretty eyes you are reading this article! Isn't this amazing!! Yes we know right. So, do you remember when your parents would say eating carrot is good for eyes, yes, they are good for eyes as carrot root which we mainly eat contain high quality of beta-carotene, a form of carotenoid. In carrot beta- carotene a retinal form of vitamin A, When we consume carrot the retinal are stored in liver, body fat and convert to retinal as as eyes need, making form of vitamin A for humans. When we consume vitamin A it is stored in our body and whenever we deal with or our eye need vitamin A the stored retinal convert into vitamin A and helps in our vision because it protect the cornea, part of the eye which transmit and concentrate the light received by the eye.
2. HELPS IN GROWTH
From fetus to child and child to adult to complete young human being, for this development we require vitamin A. So, when a women gets pregnant doctor prescribe vitamin A medicine. as child to adult we must consume vitamin A rich food because vitamin A is essential for proliferation (rapid increase in numbers) and help in cell division, when cell division take place size of organ muscle grow. Vitamin A also generates the formation of Growth Hormones(GH), which is again necessary for proper growth of an individual.
3. IMPROVES IMMUNITY
As we know immunity for our body is very necessary. If we do not build proper immunity we can easily be arrested by various kind of infectious disease, frequently under flu. So to prevent our body from these we need immunity, Vitamin A plays a role in improving our immunity. We must consume vitamin A to keep our mucous lining of organ such as eye, intestine, lung and genital because if the mucous lining is not strong infection can easily enter to the organ and infect these organ very easily and we can be in great trouble. Also vitamin A develop WBC(White Blood Cell), which are the immunity cell of the body like a bodyguard inside our body. If any harmful bacteria enter our body WBC fight with them easily and have a clear WIN WIN WIN.
3. IMPORTANT FOR SKIN
WE all love to have glowing and spotless skin. But due to hormonal disbalance and environment pollution we usually tend to get acne. So, tan tana.... vitamin A is here to prevent our acne problem. Vitamin A tend to prevent acne development. So, consume proper amount of vitamin A and have less acne. AGAIN WIN WIN WIN.
So till here we came to know the benefits of vitamin A. Now lets know what happen if proper amount of vitamin A is not consumed that means deficiency cause by vitamin A.
DEFICIENCY OF VITAMIN 'A'
-vision impairment,impaired dark absorption of eye lead to night blindness.
-infection of the mucous membrane.
-immunity impairment.
-Keratinization of skin, drying, scaling and follicular thickening.
-Growth retardation in children, specially below 5 years of age.

for non- vegetarian- fish liver oil
egg yolk
for vegetarian - beta-carotene and provitamin carotenoids containing :green leafy vegetable
spinach
broccoli
yellow/orange color fruits and vegetables carrots
papaya
mango
tomato
orange
apricot
pumkin
Carotenoids are better absorb from vegetables when they are properly cooked with some fat(oil).
