INTRODUCTION

Patratu valley is a of course beautiful man-made structure by cutting the mountains and building it into beautiful curvy roads to connect the ranchi to other places like Patratu itself and from this road you have another route to reach Ramgarh, Hazaribag. 

The journey through Patratu valley is very mesmerizing, the valley is full of greenery. In few areas you can spot small houses, paddy field, river as well.

Patratu valley is one of the beautiful valley Ranchi has.

As you come to the end of patratu valley you can see Patratu dam. Dam is a water reservoir. In patratu dam, Nalkari river water is stored. Apart from supplying water to Ramgarh district it is also use to generate electricity.

Recently at Patratu dam, Patratu resort has been build. Till the date of writing of this article i.e 24th April 2020, booking rooms at resort has not been opened for the common people. Well, in resort there is restaurant where visitor can have food. 

Near the valley and resort there are many stalls of puchkas( panipuri/ golgappas), chaats and ice creams.

WHY  PATRATU  VALLEY  IS  TOURIST  ATTRACTION?

1. Patratu valley is tourist attraction because of beautiful scenery full of greenery. During winter you can even experience fog throughout your travel through valley.

2. As you travel through the valley you will reach a point where mountain is cut in the shape of heart which is the main reason of tourist attraction.

3. The journey does not end at the heart shape point as you come to the end of the valley you will see Patratu dam.

WHAT TO  DO  AT  PATRATU  VALLEY?

You will enjoy the ride throughout the valley. At the heart shape you can click pictures for your facebook and instagram and even for memory. can sit and enjoy the view with some snacks available their.

WHAT  TO  DO  AT  PATRATU  DAM?

You have to take entry ticket to the dam and resort. As you enter, there is play space for children's. At dam you can have boat ride as reasonable price. Walk aside the dam and enjoy the view.

At resort their is restaurant you can have food.

At places their is drinking water as well as restrooms.

Do support local business.

As at patratu dam resort has been build their are more crowd of tourist. Earlier in the year 2014-2015 when resort was not built, dam used to look pretty good with less people. Well, never mind.

During season migrate birds also visit the dam.

DISTANCE  FROM  RANCHI  TO  PATRATU

Distance from the center of Ranchi to Patratu valley is approx. 31-33km via Kanke road.

HOW  TO  REACH?

You have to own a vehicle or rent it. There is tourist bus but I guess it is not running properly.

WHEN  TO  VISIT  PATRATU  VALLEY

I would prefer you to visit during starting of September till end of March.

During Summer you can start you journey early in the morning.

Avoid rainy season as the valley may get slippery.
